Nightclub fight leads to criminal charges

The minutes after a nightclub lets out for the night can be dangerous for patrons, drivers and even police. Many people are still under the influence of alcohol and tensions may  be high, which could explode into violence.

Unfortunately, that was apparently the case outside a Hoboken nightclub last Saturday night. According to a recent NJ.com report, a man from Manville reportedly assaulted a bouncer. Police reportedly were responding to a large brawl at the club and the bouncer was engaged in breaking up another fight when the man allegedly struck him, which caused the bouncer to break his ankle.

While the incident is still under investigation, employees identified the man as the person who struck the bouncer. The man was charged with aggravated assault.

An experienced criminal defense attorney can help in several regards. First and foremost, investigating the facts and verifying witness’ recollections are critical in defending the case. Having this information is important in setting the tone for negotiations with the prosecution.

Additionally, looking into the accused’s criminal background (if any) is helpful in reinforcing his or her credibility when explaining the situation to the prosecutor to support a plea bargain. Further, if there is a lesser crime that the accused can plead to in order to avoid jail time (if at all), a seasoned lawyer can propose a deal that can satisfy the state.

If you have been accused of a crime, or are under investigation for one, an experienced criminal defense attorney can advise you.
